Dr Lim is Senior Consultant Adult Neurologist at the National Neuroscience Institute & Singapore General Hospital, Associate Professor at Duke-National University of Singapore Graduate Medical School (Duke-NUS-GMS), and Clinical Associate Professor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at NUS.

He received training in Internal Medicine and Adult Neurology in Singapore, and Epilepsy & Clinical Neurophysiology at Cleveland Clinic Foundation (1989-1991).  He obtained certification from the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology (1990).

He was a founder member of the Singapore Epilepsy Foundation (IBE Chapter) and Singapore Epilepsy Society (ILAE Chapter).  He served as the Secretary General of Asian Oceanian Epilepsy Organization (1996-2000).  He was a member, Commission on Asian Oceanian Affairs (CAOA) of ILAE (1997-2001), Treasurer (2001-2006), Chairman (2006-2009), and is now Immediate Past Chairman.    From 2000, he helped to organize and participated in several epilepsy and EEG teaching courses and workshops in Asia, under the auspices of Asian Epilepsy Academy (ASEPA), the educational arm of CAOA.  He initiated an ASEPA-ASNA (ASEAN Neurological Association) EEG Certification Examination in 2005.  He was the Co-Chair, International Organizing Committee and Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of the 27th International Epilepsy Congress in Singapore (2007), and Co-Chair of SAC of the 7th Asian Oceanian Epilepsy Congress (AOEC) in Xiamen, China (2008).  He received the ILAE & IBE’s Ambassador for Epilepsy award in 2007.

He was the President, College of Physicians, Singapore (2004-2007) and President, ASEAN Neurological Association (2003-2007).  He is now the Assistant Master, Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
